Highlight Reel: Enjoying

Our household lately has also been home to a cold that has passed itself around for the past few weeks. We’ve all gotten it at least once, some of us more than that. So in between blowing our own noses and trying to recover we’ve been caring for miserable and sick babies. This has meant staying in more often than normal and a lot less sleep at night. Despite this there have still been enjoyable moments and so this post is all about slowing down and enjoying those moments.

Enjoying: Watching my three guys together.

I love their relationship. I love that Dustin is a father who is not opposed to rolling around on the floor, playing games and roughhousing, baby style of course, with his boys. I love that Dustin is a husband who willingly steps in and takes the kids when I need five minutes to regain my sanity, am trying to accomplish a task or just to give me a break because he wants too. The boys and I are very thankful for him and think he’s the best!

Enjoying: Two little guys who love bath time.

There was a brief period of time when Everett wasn’t a fan of baths thanks to my brilliant idea of trying a bubble bath. Turns out little man is scared of bubbles in his bath, he wasn’t sure what was going on and refused to sit down until a path was cleared. And even then there were tears. After a couple rough bath times he realized the bubbles were not returning and much to our relief he began enjoying baths once again. And as long as Everett doesn’t let out a piercing scream or two Reid enjoys bath time with his big brother too.

Enjoying: Little man, Everett. He is growing way too fast. He loves to help his baby brother, gets into everything figuratively and literally speaking and loves to mimic everything we do. He’s had swollen gums in four different areas for weeks now and in two of those areas teeth have finally broken through. And at his fifteen month check-up he weighed twenty-one and half pounds and is two and half feet tall.

And he’s walking!

He began walking around the house a little more each day and the distances grew longer and longer. He’s still a little unsteady but for the most part walking is slowly becoming his choice of getting around. As of yesterday he has successfully figured out how to push himself up to standing position instead of pulling himself up on something first. He’s pretty proud of himself and we’re bracing ourselves for a new set of adventures with Everett!

Enjoying: Little man Reid. Reid has had the sickness we’ve been passing the worse as he’s had a horrible cough that seemed to get better but then grew worse again. A doctor’s visit informed us that he had bronchiolitis which is basically a respiratory infection common among babies. Besides running a humidifier, clearing out his nose, etc, there’s not much else we can do but give it time to clear up. Because of his cough we’ve had a few rough nights where he’d wake up often coughing and miserable.  He’s been a little trooper though and it’s because of this we didn’t realize he actually was feeling a little worse than he actually was. We’ve still gotten lots of smiles, coos from this little man who, weighed in at fourteen pounds, and is also growing way too fast.

I just had to record his little voice and how as young as he is he still has so much to say.

Hopefully our little men, especially Reid, feel better soon so that we can fully enjoy this Christmas season. Until then we are enjoying all the little moments in between.
